The Pantherettes won the 65th Annual Sandra Meadows Classic Tournament for the 22nd time in the tournament’s history, and the ninth in Cathy Self-Morgan’s career at Duncanville. They are still undefeated and are ranked as number one in the nation by Max Preps.

The Pantherettes dominated in all areas on the court against difficult teams hose teams like Plano West in the semi-final and Blackman Tenneesee (3rd in the nation) in the finals.

Blackman was an overall sound team, led by the 5-star PG Crystal Dangerfield, who signed to the University of Connecticut. But the Pantherettes were not intimidated and stood up to the Lady Blaze and dominated in all areas of the court. Sophomore Zarielle Green was on fire on both ends of the court. She had a whopping 28 points in the game, and she did an amazing job defending Dangerfield under Blackman’s hoop. 

Self Morgan and the Pantherettes are looking to keep their momentum going, even as they face other tough opponents. One of their biggest challenges will be their district rival, Cedar Hill. The Lady Horns possess the talented Joyner Holmes, a University of Texas signee, who is very athletic and physical. The Pantherettes believe if the can get through their tough district, they can make all the way to the state championship game.
