The Varsity volleyball team currently stands tied with South Grand Prairie with the best record they have posted in quite some time at 14-1.  The team will get the opportunity to even the course as they travel to SGP’s home court to finish out regular season Friday night at 7:30.

The team has already secured a spot in the playoffs but could claim an out right district title for the first time in several years with a win Friday and a 15-1 record.

“I feel great with this record”  senior volleyball captain Jessica Bell said.

As the team travels to SGP they hope to be ready for the challenge that is ahead of them as they look to take the lead in district play.

“I’m going to play like I always play,” Bell said. “However I may be a little more nervous.”

The team have been working all the year for this season. The team comes in on Saturdays and works to perfect their skills after playing games on Friday.

“There’s always room for improvement,” head coach Lynn Evans said.  “We are constantly working to get better week after week.”

This year has been about a team effort and working together to accomplish their common goal of being part of the State playoff picture.

“I trust in my team. I feel really confident with them,” Bell said. “I’m really proud of our team this year.”

As they enter the final game of the season, Evans has high expectations for the team and knows there is only one real way for them to accomplish their goals.

“I want them to be unified as a team and strive to play together as a whole team,” Evans said.

If The panthers want to close their season as the winner in the district race prior to moving on to the playoffs one thing they must do is to continue working together like they have all year.

“I am very proud of the team this year and the progress they have made,” Evans said.  “It has been an exciting year so far for us.”
