The dock is connected to your TV via HDMI for use as a console similar to the Wii U. The screen that controllers attach to for portable use so that when your done playing on your TV you can just undock it and take the game with you on that screen, set it somewhere using its kick stand, slide the controllers off and play it like a portable TV or use it with the controllers attached to the screen like a Wii U game pad.

For stationary use you put the screen back in its dock and slide the controllers off or use another controller modeled similarly to one of an Xbox One or Ps4 for stationary use(Not Included with System Purchase) but can also be used on the portable screen if you want to carry it with you.

The Switch will have access to games any other nintendo console has never had before including games like the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, NBA 2k18, FIFA 18 and many others that are nintendo classics like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild or Mario Cart 8 Deluxe and some more recent nintendo games like Splatoon and the upcoming Mario Odyssey.

The graphics are going to be noticeably better than the Wii Us making it a viable console that is good for more than just being portable. Its storage will vary as it supports up to 2 terabyte micro SD cards and the games will come in a cartridge form not a disk like the Wii U.
