Going into the second round of district play, the girls soccer team is currently one game behind Irving Nimitz who they will face off against Friday Night at Old Panther field.

“The team must be ready to play every minute of the game,” head coach Jessica Woodrum said.  “We cannot let down and lose focus because every team has at least one key player that can make plays and score.”

The team is also one game in front of Irving MacArthur who they will face off against in two weeks. Woodrum said the game against Nimits is very important.

“We have the best defense and they have the best offense,” Woodrum said. “Our offense will have to step up and be more effective when shooting.”

Woodrum said the team’s success is credited to a strong pre-season.

We have a lot of talent but we have also been working really hard to develop complete athletes not just soccer players,” Woodrum said.  “This has given us added confidence and strength.

Woodrum said if her team comes out and plays their best they can finish first in district.

“As a team we have to dictate games,” Woodrum said. “We are the best team and other teams should adjust to us. ”
