Band advances to state marching contest

Band advances to state marching contest

The marching performed in the rain on Saturday in Mesquite. They were selected as the first place band in the marching contest and received an overall placing of third. They will now move on to the state marching contest next week. (Keria Jinks photo)

This past Saturday at Mesquite Memorial Stadium in front of an umbrella equipped audience, the DHS Marching Band and High-Hats advanced on to the UIL State Marching Contest in San Antonio.

They were selected by five judges as one of four 5A marching bands from Area C to advance to the state marching contest.

The two marching judges had Duncanville in first place out of the 20 competing bands . The students marched and performed their 2010 competition show, Every time a bell rings… in the pouring rain.

The Marching Band and High Hats will perfom their show on Tuesday, November 2nd in San Antoino in the Alamo Dome.
