Vote Duncnaville Engineering for WFAA Contest

Vote Duncnaville Engineering for WFAA Contest

The engineering department created an eco-system earlier in the year. They are in the running for the WFAA contest. You can vote until tomorrow. (Ini Adedukun photo)
In March, WFAA-TV Channel 8 issued a call for North Texas educators who demonstrate innovation and creativity by executing green initiatives at their schools. The station’s Eco-Educators Awards Contest celebrates local leaders who educate students and improve the quality of the environment. Duncanville ISD has nominated DHS Engineering Academy Instructor Bart Burnett. Some may say that an ecology lesson is out of place in an engineering class, but a group of Duncanville High School students insist that the two go hand-in-hand. Step into Bart Burnett’s Engineering Design and Presentation class, and you’ll hear about the school’s first aquatic farm. From conceptualization to construction, it’s a project engineering students can call their own. Launched on March 3, 2011, the farm now sustains three generations of fish as well as experimental vegetation. Other classes and schools also use the aquatic farm to learn about ecosystems. Duncanville High School’s aquatic farm/eco-pond has been chosen as one of WFAA-TV’s top 10 Eco-Educators Awards submissions, and is eligible to win a Viewer’s Choice Award. Here’s how you can help:

Like the WFAA Project Green Facebook page.
Click on the Vote Eco-Educators Awards tab. Please note: If you are using a smartphone, you must be logged in to the desktop site via your web browser; a page’s tabs cannot be viewed on the mobile app or site.
Click on Bart Burnett’s name.
Click on the Vote Now button.

You can vote once per day, per computer. The viewer’s choice contest closes at 11:59 pm on Friday, April 13.
