Meet your 2012 Homecoming Court Nominees

Our reporters visited with the Homecoming King and Queen nominees to see what they are involved in and why they make a great candidate for homecoming king and queen. This is the result of our interviews.

Homecoming Queen Candidates:

Emilu Mata

Q: What are you in involved in at DHS?

A: I’m Student Council president and Vice President of National Honors Society. I’m a member of Spanish Club and Teens In The Driver Seat.

Q: What makes you the best candidate for Homecoming Queen?

A: I would be a good candidate, because I represent all the clubs and organizations I’m involved in.

 

 

 

Cherokee Polk

 

Q: What are you in involved in at DHS?

A: I’m a Lieutenant in High Hats and News Editor for publications.

Q: What makes you the best candidate for Homecoming Queen?

A: I think I will be a good candidate, because I have a lot of school spirit and I do a lot of things in this school.

 

 

Kayla Lopez

Q: What are you in involved in at DHS?

A: I’m a member of Interact, Student Council, and NHS. I’m an athlete in Cross Country.

Q: What makes you the best candidate for Homecoming Queen?

A: I believe I would be a good candidate, because I can represent our school and I can be an influential role model.

 

 

 

Lucy Russell

 

Q: What are you in involved in at DHS?

A: I’m a High Hat and in Theatre.

Q: What makes you the best candidate for Homecoming Queen?

A: I have a lot of school spirit and that would be a good way to represent that school.

 

 

Rachel Roberts

Q: What are you in involved in at DHS?

A: I’m in Cheerleading, Sparklers and Student Council.

Q: What makes you the best candidate for Homecoming Queen?

A: I think I am really involved with the school and I have a lot of school spirit.

 

 

 

Homecoming King Candidates

Colton Ferguson

 

Q: What are you involved in at DHS?

A: NHS, Baseball, golf and Skills USA.

Q: What makes you the best candidate for Homecoming King?

A: Because I’m not running for myself. I am running for people who think they don’t have a chance to run, because they don’t know enough people or they believe they are not popular enough to vote.

 

 

Mauricio Celaya

 

Q: What are you involved in at DHS?

A: I’m the Duncanville Band President, and I am also the Student Council Corresponding Secretary.

Q: What makes you the best candidate for Homecoming King?

A: I feel like I have done a lot in the school, so I have a lot to offer our school and that I can be a good role model for our students.

 

 

Michael Bruner

 

Q: What are you involved in at DHS?

A: I’m in animation, Media Tech, Skill USA, and National Technical Honors Society.

Q: What makes you the best candidate for Homecoming King?

A: I wouldn’t say the best candidate, but I believe I would be a good candidate, because I think I am a likable person.

 

 

Nenad Vukovic

 

Q: What are you involved in at DHS?

A: I’m in all AP classes, President for Theater club in the Drama Department, I’m Homecoming Executive Chairman for Student Council.

Q: What makes you the best candidate for Homecoming King?

A: I think I have done a lot of time and effort for this school. I believe that I will be the best representative for this school, so that people can see the high spirits people at DHS have and how much we love our campus.

 

 

Torry Williams

 

Q: What are you involved in at DHS?

A: I’m involved in DECA, and I’m Senior Class Vice President. I’m in Student Council, I’m in NHS, and I’m in Football organization, and Track Organization.

Q: What makes you the best candidate for Homecoming King?

A: I have the ambition to the award. Previous two winners were either senior officers or football players. I just want to keep the tradition alive.
