Friday night prior to the game between the Panthers and Grand Prairie, the 2012 Homecoming King and
Queen were announced. Football player Torry Williams was named Homecoming King while Emilu Mata was named Homecoming Queen.
“I was shocked when they called out my name,” Mata said. “There were some great candidates and I couldn’t believe I won.”
Mata said she was happy to be named by her peers as the winner for the queen spot.
“This is a great honor to be named as queen,” Mata said. “I am very appreciative to those of my classmates that voted for me.”
Prior to the naming of King and Queen, all of the classification princesses were named as well as the Band, Choir and Football sweethearts.
