competition season with the DeSoto Marching Classic on October 12.

“We’re off to a great start and looking forward to Part 3 of our outstanding trilogy” director George Townsend said.

The band will take the field at 8 pm for the district UIL contest tomorrow. For the Band, their season started with them winning 1st in the majority of the divisions including Most Outstanding Drum Major Team and Grand Champions at the DeSoto Marching Classic on Oct. 12.

“Everyone just wants the best” senior Jordan Canales said. “And [the band] is ready for it.”

Canales is just one of the many members who has been with the band from part one of the trilogy.

“We have dedicated a lot of hard work and time in an effort to achieve the goal of winning more contests including state this year,” Canales said.

After missing out on the 1st place state win in 2010 by getting 3rd, the band is more determined than ever to win it all this year. The amount of time the students have spent to improve and work on the show hasn’t gone unnoticed.

“I feel very fortunate to be able to work with a great group of kids” Townsend said.
