The  Panthers will be facing Irving Nimitz in the first round of the playoffs Friday in Mansfield after suffering a close and emotional loss to Cedar Hill last week.

“We learned that we need to better control our emotions,” Head Coach Jeff Dicus said, “But I’m proud of the way our kids reacted to the actions of Cedar Hill early in the game.”

The Panthers dominated most of the game but  fell short on a last minute play by the Longhorns finishing the night with a 35-31. Duncanville and Cedar Hill shared the District 5-5A title and the Panthers finished as the first seed with a record of 6-1.  Dicus is optimistic about advancing his team to the next round.

“We want to be a part of the 32 teams that move on,” Dicus said, “We’ve got to come out and establish ourselves as the aggressor.”

If the Panthers clinch the the win there is a good chance they will face Coppell, one of the top teams in the state leaving the Panthers with another obstacle to face in their rise to the top.
