After trailing by 14 points going into the locker room at halftime Friday night, the Panthers came back to hold Irving Nimitz from scoring in the second half giving them a 31-24 Bi-District win at Mansfield’s Vernon Newsom stadium.
Divan Ealy scored on a 21 yard run in overtime to give the Panthers a quick lead. Nimitz also got a chance at the ball in overtime but was unsuccessful at reaching the endzone again as senior Josh Uland pulled the ball out of Nimitz’ quarterback Adam Charles’ hand and recovered the ball on their second possession.
The Panthers 8-3 on the season will advance to their first second round game in six years Saturday as they face Coppell(11-0) at Cowboy stadium in Arlington at 8 p.m.
