Drake’s new album places listeners in deep thought

I appreciate nearly all genres of music with the exception of alternative, rock and Latin music. Drake is increasingly becoming my new favorite R&B/hip-hop artist. His music is so relatable and often puts me into deep thought about past relationships. Take Care, Drake’s latest album, was amazing. It is literally the only CD I play in my car.

Take Care

Prior to Drake becoming a music artist he was an actor and starred on the television series Degrassi, which I watched every Friday faithfully. He made his debut as an artist in the latter part of 2010 with the release of  “Best I Ever Had” and “November 18th.” When I first heard those songs on the radio, I immediately fell in love.  His clever use of metaphors in his lyrics is genius. Drake’s success as a music artist quickly skyrocketed.

‘Take Care’ was released November 15, 2011 and many people still claim that it is the best R&B album that has been released in a long time alongside Chris Brown’s latest album. My favorite songs on the Take Care album is Practice, Shot For Me, Over My Dead Body, Doing it Wrong and Look What You’ve Done. I can most definitely relate to every lyric on those songs. The album puts you in the mindset of someone who has gone through a lot of hurt in past relationships and is now moving forward with their life and wishing their ex the best of luck; totally the story of my life. Take Care could not have been released at a better time. Right when I was going through a terrible break up, this album was released and listening to it literally became a therapy session.

What I really like about this Take Care album is that although there are so many relatable songs on it that will put you in your feelings, the entire cd isn’t that way. There are also quite a few songs that are upbeat and will have you nodding your head and feeling good about life. The diversity of the album makes it even better to listen to.

I recommend this album to anyone who has an appreciation for good quality music. Also if you are going through a tough break-up or heartbreak, the album will have you reflecting on it as well as help you get over it. The things he says in his songs are like spoken words from your mind.
