Well it’s about that time of year again, the time where if you’re single you surely will feel it. It’s when the stores are filled with anything pink, red or sparkly. Where there are mountains and mountains of cute little stuffed animals holding hearts with different cheesy love quotes. Where there are aisles and aisles of any and all types of chocolate candies. It’s the time for florists to sell out of all their beautiful roses and other floral arrangements.  And let’s not forget about the bakeries get booked with bunches of orders, we all know people love their sweets.  So what does all this madness mean? Yep you got it, Valentines Day is coming up.

Now personally I’m not really going to have a valentine on Feb. 14 this year, but that doesn’t mean I absolutely hate Valentines Day. In all honesty I actually like this holiday. I love seeing the pink and red everywhere and people expressing how much they actually care for one another. It’s all very cute.

However, being in high school makes having a valentine way too complicated. I miss the way things were while we were in elementary school. When we got to go to the store just to pick out what kind of cartooned themed cards we wanted that year, and the kind of matching candy we wanted to attach to it. Valentines Day was something we all looked forward to as kids. We couldn’t wait till we had our Valentines Day parties and got to pass out the cards we worked hard on putting together. Getting all that candy just made it the greatest day in school for us.

So if you happen to be one of the single people I mentioned in the beginning, don’t feel too bad. It’s just another day of high school you’ll have to get through. Just try your best to enjoy it and take in everything you see. If you’re a guy, take notes. See what you’re friends got for their girlfriends and see how that worked for them, and if it didn’t work out well then you’ll know not to repeat their mistakes. If you’re a girl and you’re single on Valentines Day then try not to be bitter. Go out and get something for your close friend, you’d be surprised at what a nice gesture can do for a person.  And don’t worry before we know it, it’ll all be over and you’ll have 365 more days before you have to stress about this holiday again.
