Pantherettes advance in playoffs

The Pantherettes take on L.D. Bell in the second round of playoffs Friday at 7:00 at Arlington High School. L.D. Bell is coming off of a win against Denton Ryan on Tuesday. L.D. Bell has an overall record of (30-4). Bell’s leading scorer is junior guard Cierra Johnson who averages 15.8 points a game. Bell won 65-27 on Tuesday with junior forward, Sheridan Pilcher and junior guard, Leah Taylor led the way with 16 points each. Each of L.D. Bell’s losses have been close this season.

The Pantherettes are coming into Friday’s game with 36 wins and zero losses. In their last game they beat Killeen 65-33. Junior guard Tasia Foman and senior forward Kiara Perry led the way with 15 points each. Junior guard Ariel Atkins had 12 points in Monday’s contest.

Killeen played the Pantherettes tough and kept up with them in the first quarter, but after that the Pantherettes pulled away and never looked back.

L.D. Bell is the second highest scoring in the area, averaging 62.7 points a game. For the Pantherettes to come out with a win their number ranked defense is going to have to play a key role. Cierra Johnson is their leading scorer, who is very aggressive in her style of play, but she’s not their only scorer. If the Pantherettes play air tight defense like we are accustomed to, then they should continue on in playoffs.
