UIL Academic teams win district

Saturday the UIL journalism and Accounting teams won their 7-5A academic team awards at Grand Prairie High School.
“I am very proud of everyone who competed in the contest,” journalism adviser James Rich said. “We are happy to bring home the team trophy for the first time in many years and advance a large team to the Regional contest.”
The following students will be advancing to the regional contest after receiving Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in their contests. Kennedy Stidham 1st place Feature Writing, Abigail Collins 3rd place Feature Writing, Allie Peregory 1st place in Editorial and Headline Writing as well as 4rth place in Feature Writing and Christina Sembrano 3rd place in Editorial Writing.
The accounting team swept their contest and won the team trophy as well and will also head to regionals as well. Placing in the contest were 1st place Tatiana Randle, 3rd place Cameron Alford, 4rth place Francisco Rodrigues and 6th place Daisy Ramirez.
Other individual placings in the UIL academic contest included David Daniels 6th place in Social Studies, Jamie Kim 5th place in Ready Writing and Elena Elliott 6th place in Ready Writing.
