    Girls and boys open soccer season with close games

    Soccer season has officially started for the Duncanville Panthers. The Varsity boys played their first game last Tuesday night against the State Champions Coppell. They also played another game against Plano last Friday as well. The Varsity girls played their first game against Arlington Lamar. These games were scrimmages to open up the season.

    The Varsity boys opened up their season playing the defending State Champions, Coppell. The score was 3-2 with the Panthers taking a loss. New comer Christopher Escalera, scored both goals against the defending champs. Coach Nuno Passos said that he was very impressed with the way the boys played against the defending champions.

    The Varsity boys also played a game last Friday against Plano, winning 4-1. Three goals were scored by Escalera and he was only put in the game for the second half. Another goal was scored by Junior Paul Gorish.

    The Varsity girls played their first scrimmage against Arlington Lamar with a tied game of 0-0. This was the first game the girls had with new Varsity coach, Ron Neal. Coach Neal says that the girls did well for their first game, but there was still lots of improvement to be done before they head into their district season.

    The Varsity boys play their first home game this Tuesday at 8:00 P.M. against Irving MacArthur. The Varsity girls play their first home game this Friday at 8:00 P.M. against Longview.
