54 medals were awarded to Duncanville art students in the  2014 Visual Arts Scholastic Event held at Coppell High School on March 1. Five pieces will continue to state competition.

“It was a tremendous success,” Art teacher John Tahaney said. “It was the most students we have ever taken to contest. We believed we had a good chance to win some medals, but as the students kept getting medals, it was really amazing.”

Tahaney is confident in the students’ chances at the next level.

“I think they have an excellent chance to medal at state,” Tahaney said. “The craftmanship is excellent, and the artists behind the work are great representatives of Duncanville High School.”
