This week, Duncanville football heads out to Mesquite for a battle with the Mesquite Horns. Both teams had impressive outings in their first game of the season last Friday. Duncanville defeated the Arlington Colts, 32-29 and the Mesquite Horns found a way past Boyd in a close game at 21-15.

Mesquite has a variety of players on their varsity roster. Most players playing multiple positions. This isn’t the best thing for most high school players because it such a fast paced game. Fatigue will come quickly and that can hurt late in the game but it can help Duncanville majorly. Fatigue leads to bad play and plenty mistakes. We have to hope that Duncanville is making less of these this week and Horn more.

However, Duncanville’s defense looked very good last week. Plenty of three and outs and forced turnovers. So the only problem Duncanville faces is an offense which needs to have the ability to put up 60 points if needed. They were ‘Alright’ on the offensive side of the ball last week. Receiver Elijah Gates scored two needed touchdowns late in the game which boosted the team to a victory.

The win is in the bag for the Panthers as long as the defense stays consistent and the offense can find a way to put a few more points on the board.
