The Pantherettes basketball program is in the running for best high school program as voted by USA Today. that have won the first level and are now in fourth place for the next level. The Pantherettes had a 105-game streak snapped in last season’s 5A state championship game under the direction of Coach Cathy Self Morgan. And that streak wasn’t even the best in school history: Duncanville had a string of 134 wins end in 1991 under late head coach Sandra Meadows. That is the nation’s third-longest winning streak, according to the National Federation of State High School Associations. The school continues to put out top talent such as Ariel Atkins, who was considered one of the top recruits in the nation last season and is now excelling at The University of Texas. The program’s overall win total is 299-43.
The Pantherettes have produced top talent in both college and the NBA. Of These notable players includes Tiffany Jackson, Tamika Catchings,Empress Davenport, Ariel Atkins and Tasia Foman.
