Moving into your dorm can be a drag, especially if you plan on going out-of-state for your education. Some college give you some essentials already accommodated with your dorm, such as a TV with a network, free Wi-Fi (some encourage you to bring your own router), a dresser, a desk, a mini fridge, and/or a microwave (that’ll probably be attached to the fridge). Although, there are some things you can bring with you to organize and start your college life on the right foot and some you’re not allowed to bring for safety and health reasons. • Alarm clock: Do I really need to explain why you need an alarm clock when your mom’s not there to wake you up. It’s very important, especially if you have morning classes. Yesh!
• Bed linens: Comforters, sheets, and pillows will not be provided for you and I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t want them after knowing someone’s greasy, cheeto dusted face has be slobbering all over that pillow. And don’t even get me started on why communal sheets are not a good idea! On that note, check with your college to see if they have regular or XL twin beds. It could save you from a (possibly) dirty mattress with who knows what is crawling with.
• Clothes hangers: Bring clothes that come hanged and organize your closet with your fashionista style! Or if you’re a guy you probably don’t care either and just stuff them in the dresser if you forget the hangers.
• Computer: Most colleges have computer labs but it’s nice to have the convenience of  bringing your own laptop. Make sure to bring the appropriate software and not that software that takes 15 years to load your favorite video of a kitten trying to get tape stuck off his paw.
• Desk Lamp: It is very essential for your late night cramming session while your roommate is sleeping.
• DVD player, game console, stereo (if you youngsters still use those), and TV: Like I said, SOME colleges come with TVs while others encourage you bring your own and sign up for their network. While game consoles are important, especially if your roommate is a Juste Belmont trying to Selena from Dracula. However, your TV might be too powerful or large to be brought in. If you ever find out who your roommate is, contact them and see whos bring what before you get your hopes up in bringing your 370 in. plasma screen TV.
• Laundry basket: A laundry basket is a great way to help you get past embarrassing moments of grabbing all of the mixed clothes and dropping some tighty-whities with some noticeably brown skid marks down the residence hall.
• Bath linens: Bring your own washcloths and towels. Unless you really, REALLY know your roommate enough to share.
• Bathrobe: It’s a nice essential to have when walking to and from the community showers.
• Flip flops: If you’re planning on using the community showers then this is the holy grail of all of the things on this list. You don’t want to share toe fungus with that Lisa chick down the hall.
• Shower tote: This will make it easy for you to bring your toiletries and shower supplies to and from the bathroom with secrecy.  
• Kitchen Appliances: Find out what appliances you are permitted to have, such as those on https://www.theapplianceguys.com.au/, and coordinate with your roommate(s). Some colleges don’t allow you to bring open fire appliances like crock pots, grills (don’t ask why that’s not obvious), coffee machines, and irons (that’s not a kitchen appliance, I just feel that I should tell you).
• Snacks: You never know when you’ll need a boost when working on your late night thesis on Chaos Theory.

As you can see, there are a lot of things you can bring to college with you; some more important than others. It’s completely up to you what to bring. You can even be a little rebel and sneak in some stuff. (Don’t do that. They will confiscate your belongings and fine you for violating safety residence hall rules.)
