The varsity soccer boys triumphed in yesterday’s game against the Bonham Warriors with a score of 5-0. After a slow start, the boys were able to fight through and eventually score four goals by halftime. By the end of the game the Panthers finished strong and head into their next game of the Duncanville Classic with confidence..

The first two goals were shot by Adrian Gonzalez with assist from Angel Mendoza and Chris Reyna. The other goals were scored by Johnny Macias, Chris Reyna, and Jason Cruz assisted by Cesar Gonzalez.

“We played to our strengths,” head coach Nunos Passos said. “When we had the ball, we knocked it around. We possessed it. We went forward when we needed to, and we did what we wanted to do.”

Going into the game the team knew Bonham was not as good as the Panthers have been all year long. Passos credits this for causing the boys to start slow.

“I think sometimes when we play teams not as good as us we seem to play down,” Passos said. “Today was just a struggle mentally to just be focused, to be serious and play up.”
