Cosmetology department to host Hair-A-Thon for Safe Haven womens shelter
Cosmetology will host a hair-A-thon Saturday to benefit Safe Haven women's shelter.

The cosmetology department will be holding a Hair-A-Thon Saturday Dec. 10.

“We’re giving the money to them to help them get back on their feet,” Cosmetology teacher Miss Manning said, “it’s our way of helping.”

The event will be held in the cosmetology room from 12-6. The event will include the various services available in the department already. The department will be donating 50% of all proceeds to a local women’s shelter.

“The students have been spreading word around so that they can make as much as they can to give to the women,” cosmetology teacher Joanette Manning said.

The decision to help the Safe Haven women’s shelter resulted from students in the program who know people in the shelter that need help.

“I want to help them and their children in their situation,” student Te’anna Walker said.

Anyone one can come support the students as they raise money for the shelter.

“It’s an experience for the kids,” Manning said, “but it’s also helping women get back on their feet.”
