Teacher of the Week: Mrs. Ellis

Mary Michelle Ellis is part of the Fashion Design department. According to Ellis, “Fashion design teaches kids the skills they’ll need to be able to be in the fashion industry. It could be as a stylist, working for a magazine company, or actually being a fashion designer. They can be working at a magazine company, interning there, writing articles, pulling clothes for fashion shoots different ideas like that.” She has been teaching for 26 years at Duncanville High School. Ellis has known this was here chosen career since 7th grade. She wanted to be a home economics teacher and that’s what she set out to do and has been doing since she graduated. Ellis keeps her students motivated to learn and stay active in class by giving them encouragement everyday. She states that its a very hard industry and therefore has to encourage students to keep going and pursue their dreams.
